AIDS MEMORIAL QUILT VIRTUAL EXHIBITION

Sadly, FACT’s Annual World AIDS Day candlelight vigil at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in New Hope event is off this year. However, the National AIDS Memorial, in partnership with the AIDS Quilt Touch team, is presenting all 48,000 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in an interactive, online exhibition, which you can view CLICK HERE >

FACT Bucks County and the Family Service Association of Bucks County are sponsoring several panels together. Display Host: Family Service Association of Bucks County & FACT Bucks County. Family Service Association of Bucks County is a nonprofit community-based social service organization located in Langhorne, PA. With over 65 years of service to those most in need including individuals living with HIV, Family Service gains it strength from solid collaborations with other local nonprofits including FACT (Fighting AIDS Continuously Together) who generously sponsored our participation in this event. We are honored, humbled, and deeply moved to share these selected visual tributes to loved ones whose lives have been lost to HIV/AIDS.  Let no one ever be forgotten – especially those who died lonely and without someone to remember them. May we finally reach a point where we end the HIV epidemic. Peace and comfort to all.

The first cases of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, were reported 40 years ago. An estimated 38 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS around the world. But thanks to a global commitment to stop new HIV infections and ensure that everyone with HIV has access to treatment, AIDS-related deaths have been reduced by 60% since the peak in 2004.

Still, the HIV/AIDS global epidemic has exacted a devastating toll. In the US alone, it’s claimed more than 700,000 lives, a fraction of which are commemorated through the quilt.
